A Wild Dance on Untamed Land
Acrylic and Oil Pastel on canvas
81CM W x 101.5CM H
I’m returning to my fascination with modern day folktales, those strange, symbolic stories we live without realising. This piece speaks to the illusion of control in a chaotic world, a kind of absurd theatre unfolding in front of a silent audience. Each observer holds meaning, witnesses to the spectacle yet silent in their judgement.
It asks what it means to perform strength when you don’t know who is watching, or why. Are they just waiting for you to fall?
Symbols of fate, fear, violence and freedom thread through the work. Masculinity balancing at the edge, he’s not conquering anything, he’s just trying to stay upright. A modern folk tale. A dance with no clear steps. A tale as old as time, retold on unstable ground. Masculinity on the verge.
