Despair
Mixed media on canvas in framed in Tasmanian Oak.
60 W x 60 H
This piece, Despair, came out of my anger and sorrow after Trump’s election. It feels like a massive step back for women, LGBTQI+ people, and communities of colour.
My heart aches for my brother and his family in Florida, facing the real impact of these policies. This piece captures that raw moment of watching hope slip away, of feeling abandoned by the ideals we thought we’d secured. Vulnerable, isolated, empty. I can’t describe how abandoned by hope so many Americans must feel. I definitely feel that way over here.
To everyone who’s still fighting—this isn’t over. I’m sharing this work as a reminder that we’re resilient, and we’re not giving up. We’ve got each other, and we keep fighting.
There’s still light coming through the window.
