For the table
Mixed media on canvas in framed in Tasmanian Oak.

For the Table captures a moment of quiet pride — a man returning from the water, fish slung over one shoulder, a woven basket hanging from the other. He’s dressed in denim and sneakers, a Marlboro-red cap pulled low, walking not just through space but through time — half-modern, half-mythic. A seagull follows close behind, as if drawn by instinct or loyalty.
The work continues Frankowicz’s deep affection for fishermen as figures of nostalgia and inheritance — tied to her Polish heritage and love of imagery that evokes ritual, rhythm, and resilience. But here, the fisherman is also something more: a provider, maybe a son, maybe a boyfriend, maybe a stranger — bringing something home with care.
True to her signature style, Frankowicz brings together the softness of memory with the edge of now: red sneakers instead of boots, stylised fish in saccharine pinks, and a background that feels abstracted, like a dreamscape or curtain dropping behind him.
It’s about masculinity and gentleness. About showing up. About what we carry — and who we carry it for.
